Internship — Silicon Valley
I worked at VW Group Innovation California in Silicon Valley and was part of creating future mobility concepts for sustainability and in-car wellbeing.
Marielle and I worked in the same UX team during her internship at Volkswagen Group of America. Very simply, Marielle is AWESOME! Her design speaks for itself. The work she delivered during her internship was better than most senior designers I have seen in the industry.
More importantly, she was extremely delightful to work with. We spent hours brainstorming for projects on a white board to try and solve a problem until our brains hurt. I was impressed by her energy and creativity. Rarely have I seen a young designer have so much appetite for design and burritos.

The work I've done is locked away behind some pretty serious walls on the other side of the world. But here are my Top 3 learnings:
#1 Testing is King.
Especially when it comes to in-car prototypes and different driving scenarios, test drives are crucial. The insights improve driver safety and a seamless UX.
#2 Educate about UX.
To educate the VW innovation campus and figure out the current state of UX in the company, our internal design club used the design maturity model.
#3 User interviews are practise.
Doing my first user interviews with customers was challenging but fun and seeing how assumptions can differ from real needs.
